pancakes.

Today is Pancake Day in England. What does that mean? Do you eat pancakes to benefit a charity? Is it a celebration of the birth of pancakes?
I asked some English people, and they said, "You just eat pancakes."
I like pancakes. But the British do it a bit differently than Americans. Yanks like 'em fluffy and smothered in butter and maple syrup (or corn syrup imitating maple syrup). Btw, if you think pure maple syrup is expensive in the states, it's over $9 for a tiny bottle here. Anyways, the Brits like their pancakes thin with sugar and lemon juice. Kinda like crepes. In Holland there are entire restaurants dedicated to different kinds of the circular delights, with any topping you can imagine, both savory and sweet.

Perhaps the best thing about pancakes is that they are so easy to make. 1 mug of milk, 1 mug of flour, and 1 egg! Most people have those in their house most of the time, and they are cheap ingredients!

Try something new on your pancakes today. How about nutella and banana? mmmmm...
